Thursday, January 28, 2010 - On Thursday, January 28 at 10:44 PM the Millstone Township Fire Company was dispatched to 37 Homestead Lane for a reported structure fire. Moments later 3266 Chief Carbin signed in service requesting any updates. County relayed the homeowner stated she saw flames coming from the kitchen. Initial reports indicated a 1 story, non-combustible residential with nothing showing. Homes in this area were constructed of concrete walls with flat concrete roofs. Upon further investigation the Chief reported smoke banked down to the floor with zero visibility. The crew of 3290 (Deputy Chief Fiore) was instructed to pull an 1 ¾ hand line to the front door. Additional units were now arriving including Tanker 3296 establishing a water supply to the first due engine, Rescue 3285, Engine and Tanker 57 from Monroe Township and Station 41 for RIT assignment. The fire was located in the kitchen area and was quickly extinguished with the hand line and the use of CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System). Ventilation was quickly established and overhaul work began. Scene lighting was set up to assist with the fire investigation. 32-1 units remained on scene securing the residence and cleared at 00:17.
