The on duty staff received a telephone report of a possible transformer fire at the intersection of Trenton Lakewood Rd (Rt 526) and Red Valley Rd. As Engine 3275 (Maloney) was leaving the station to investigate, Hope Fire Company (Sta 82-1) was dispatched to the area of 97 Rt 526 for a brush fire. Engine 3275 arrived and notified dispatch the incident was in Millstone and to have the department dispatched due to wires down with an active brush fire. The Engine crew verified that a guide wire had been damaged causing it to come in contact with the electrical lines sparking two separate brush/grass fires. The Engine crew extinguished an area of brush approximately 20 ft x 20 ft, while Brush 3294 (Reed) arrived and worked to extinguish a grass fire approximately 100 ft x 5ft. Chief Carbin (3266) had command of the incident. The New Jersey State Forest Fire Service and the New Jersey State Police were also scene.
