Thursday, July 22, 2010 10:26 - The Millstone Twp Fire Department and the Millstone Twp First Aid Squad were dispatched to Route 537 and Ely Harmony Rd for an overturned vehicle. Freehold Twp Independent (Sta. 16-1) and Freehold First Aid had already been dispatched due to the incident being on a border shared by the two townships. While en route Engine 3275 (Maloney) was advised of possible entrapment. Engine 3275 and Rescue 3285 arrived shortly behind Engine 16-1-79 confirming a van overturned onto its roof with the driver entrapped. The van had been involved in a collision with a concrete truck. The crew initiated patient care, pulled a protection hand line, and began to stabilize the vehicle. A medevac was requested for the entrapped driver and Engine 16-1-77 was diverted to respond to their Siloam Rd substation to handle the landing zone. With assistance from Engine 16-1-79 the vehicle was stabilized with rescue struts as the crew from Engine 3275 removed the drivers door, created an access panel referred to as a "3rd door" and removed the B-post with the hydraulic extrication tools. The crews assisted EMS with removing the patient who was treated and transported to the landing zone by Freehold First Aid and Monoc ALS. The New Jersey State Police requested Engine 3275 to remain on scene until the investigation was complete and the vehicle was up righted.
