On Tuesday Morning Lt South and Firefighter Maloney were out conducting follow-up fire inspections at 9 Trenton Lakewood Road.  While inspecting Hybrid Tek a discovery of an unknown odor prompted them to request that the station be dispatched to further investigate the problem.  At 10:39 the station was dispatched.  Lt South (32-2-70) assumed Hybrid Tek Command.  The crew began to evacuate the building and take readings with the gas meter.  MSDS sheets were accessed for further product information.  During the initial investigation the odor became very noxious and Monmouth County Hazmat was requested as well as an additional engine from Hope Fire Company Station 82-1.  Command requested BLS from Millstone, Allentown, and Freehold for evaluation of the employees and a stand-by for firefighters operating.  Millstone OEM was also contacted for a response.  After an in depth investigation of the building and chemicals used the problem was traced back to the ventilation system not properly ventilating the chemicals from the building.  Crews operated for approximately 3 hours and the incident will require additional follow-up from the Fire Bureau and County Hazmat.  The station was covered by Manalapan (26-2) with one engine while crews were committed.
