2012 Fire Budget Vote

The Millstone Township Fire District is pleased to present the 2012 budget.  The District is further pleased to report that this budget has no tax increase.  Residents are reminded that the vote takes place on February 18th between the hours of 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the firehouse at 461 Stagecoach.  This is a great oppurtunity for residents to show their support to the fire department by coming out and casting a yes vote.

Mutual Aid to Freehold for Structure

At 2:11 AM Millstone Township Fire Company was dispatched to Freehold Township for a reported structure fire.  Chief Prochnow (16-1-66) arrived on location confirming that a 2 1/2 story residential home had heavy fire showing from the side of the house.  Engines from 16-1 arrived on location along with Chief Fiore (3266), Engine 3275 Captain Mike Gesualdo and Tanker 3296.  A quick interior knockdown was attempted however a partial collapse was anticipated, evacuation tones activated and accountability taken.  The front corner of the home collapsed.  A defensive operation was ordered until all fire was extinguished moving into overhaul.  The fire was placed under control at approximately 3:30 AM. 


 
   
   
Tractor Trailer versus SUV results in extrication

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched to 700 Route 33 for a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer versus car.  Engine 3275 (Wagner) arrived to find the passenger of Honda CRV entrapped.  The vehicle was stabilized, and crews from the Engine and Rescue 3285 utilized hydraulic rescue tools to remove both passenger side doors and the B post.  Once extrication was complete the crews assisted EMS with patient removal. 


 
Multi Vehicle Extrication

On Christmas night the Millstone Township Fire and First Aid along with Manalapan (26-2) Fire and First Aid was dispatched to Smithburg Road, Rout3 527 for a motor vehicle accident.  Manlapan Chief 26-2-66 (Perrone) arrived first on scene confirming multiple vehicle accident with patients entrapped upgrading box to full rescue assignment.  Chief 32-1 (Fiore) arrived on scene staging 32-85 (Gesualdo - Rescue) in front of 1 vehicle callig for hydralic tools to be placed into service while Manalapan's Rescue vehicle staged in front of vehicle 2 and also placed hyralic tools into service.  Additional apparatus from both departments were on scene for manpower.  Both patients were extricated from vehicles and taken to area hospitals.

Mutual Aid to Manalapan for Structure Fire

On Tuesday, December 20th the Millstone Township Fire Company was dispatched for mutual aid into Manalapan to 3 McCaffery Road for a reported structure fire.  3290 (Lt. South) arrived on location and was instructed to take his crew and ventilate the garage roof and remove 2nd floor windows adjacent to the garage.  The crew then proceeded to pull cielings and assist an engine crew with interior operations.  3290 operated for approximately 1 hour before being released by McCaffery Command.


 
   
   
House trailer fire with exposure

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched as part of the first alarm assignment to 7 Harmony Hill Road in Upper Freehold Township for a trailer fire.  Telesqurt 3290 (Maloney) arrived first due to find a house trailer well involved with an exposure problem of a large barn.  The Telesqurt dropped a supply line down the driveway and led off with a 2.5" handline due to extension to the barn and flame impingement on 2 100lb propane tanks.  Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down the crew used a 1.75" to complete an interior attack with assitance from Engine 8282 (Vorp).  Tanker 3296 acted as the nurse tanker, Tanker 3295 provided one load of water as well.  Rescue 3285 also operated on scene.  Crew operated for a little under two hours before clearing. 


 
Overturned Truck with Fatality

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid to Upper Freehold Township for an overturned tractor trailer on Interstate 195 at MM 11 Westbound.  Engine 8282 (Vorp) arrived to find a tractor trailer overturned with the trailer detached from the truck and the driver entrapped and deceased.  Engine 3275 (South) and Rescue 3285 arrived and remained on scene to assist with extrication.

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched to in front of 819 Perrineville Road for a motor vehicle accident with an overturned vehicle.  While enroute addtional information was received reporting the driver was out of the vehicle.  Engine 3275 (Maloney) arrived to find an SUV that overturned multiple times uprighted on its wheel with the driver entrapped.  The engine crew intiated patient care, strecthed a handline for fire protection, and began to stabilized the vehicle as Rescue 3285 arrived.  Due to the patients position the crew worked carefully to remove the door frame from around the patients head due to the the displacement of the roof from the accident.  Once completed the crew removed both drivers side doors, the B post, and the roof.  At the height of the incident both hydraulic cutters, the spreader, and the saw-zall were insevice simualtenously.  Once extrication was completed the crew assisted EMS with removing the patient.  The patient was transported to Jersey Shore Trauma Center.  The New Jersey State Police are investigating the incident. 


 
Outdoor Kitchen Fire

The Millstone Township Fire Department Fire Department was dispatched to Chase Ct for a grill fire.  Telesqurt 3290 (Maloney) arrived to find smoke showing from an outdoor kitchen at the rear of the property with the homeowner attempting to extinguish.  The crew found that the fire orignated from the grill being left on an extended to the frame work for the kitchen.  The crew worked to open up the area around the grill and extinguish the fire.  Tanker 3296 staged on location, Rescue 3285 was recalled.


 
   
   
Millstone Mom's Club remembers Fire Department on 9/11

The Millstone Township Mom's Club, long term supporters of the Millstone Township Fire Department met with department members and presented a large lunch and donation on the tenth anniversary of September 11th terrorist attacks.  The department wishes to thank the Mom's Club for the continued support.


 
Mutual Aid to Upper Freehold

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched as part of the first alarm for a structure fire at 201 Route 539 in Upper Freehold Township.  Engine 8282 (Vorp) arrived and advised of a fire in the attic.  Telesqurt 3290 (Buckalew) arrived second due and laid out 700 feet of 5" and led off with a 1 3/4" hand line.  The telesqurt driver laddered the building with the aerial and placed ground ladders for egress.  Tanker 3296 arrived and supplied 3290.  Crews quickly knocked the fire down and overhauled the attic area.  Millstone firefighters operated for approximately 1.5 hours. 


 
   
   
Fire Showing in Upper Freehold

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched to 33 Rues Road in Upper Freehold as part of the first alarm assignment for a structure fire.  Telesqurt 3290 (South) arrived first due to find fire showing from the roof.  The telesqurt backed in to the driveway and led off with a 1 3/4" handline making an aggressive interior and a primary search while being assisted by Engine 8282 (Luck).  Crews quickly knocked the bulk of the fire down while Truck 3915 performed ventilation.  Tanker 3296 and 3295 assisted on location as well. 


 
   
   
Hurricane Irene keeps Millstone Fire Department Busy

Hurricane Irene arrived Saturday evening bringing heavy rains and strong winds to the area.  The Millstone Fire Department answered it's first storm related call at 16:00, and in just over 24 hours responded to close to 50 calls for service.  By Wednesday August 31st the department had answered over 80 calls.  Calls included wires down, trees down, flooded basements, fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, odor investigations, a reported structure fire, a building collapse in Manalapan Township with a gas leak, and performed  water rescue with Manalapan Firefighters in Monroe Township on Route 33.

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched to Route 33 across from Dunkin Donuts for a transformer fire.  Engine 3275 (Wagner) arrived to find a utility pole damaged as the result of being struck by a tractor trailer causing the wires to become low hanging across Route 33.  As a result the road was closed in both directions making for a frustrating evening commute.  During this incident a fire alarm was received on Rike Drive and mutual aid was received from Monroe Township Fire District #2.


 
   
   
Truck Fire

The Millstone Township Fire Department was dispatched to Millstone Road and Schoolhouse Road for a truck fire.   Engine 3275 (Gesualdo) arrived to find a box truck with fire showing from the engine/passenger compartment. 3275's crew placed an 1 3/4" handline to serivce to extinguish the fire.  Tanker 3295 was on scene for water supply.
