The Millstone Township Fire Company has an unlimited number of openings for Volunteer Firefighters. Membership with the Millstone Fire Company is open to individuals age 18 and above who are a resident of Millstone Township or a surrounding community. No prior experience is necessary and training will be provided.
In addition, residents between the ages of 14 to 17, can join the fire companyís Explorers Postís Junior Firefighter program. Junior firefighters participate in almost every aspect of training and respond in a support role at actual emergency incidents, assisting the fire companyís firefighters. Upon reaching the age of 18, they become eligible to serve as a volunteer firefighter with the fire company.
As a Millstone volunteer firefighter, you will be challenged to learn new skills which will prepare you for firefighting, motor vehicle rescue operations, and driver/pump operations, among other specialties. Any and all of these skills will allow you to serve your neighbors in the community and experience a successful, exciting and rewarding lifestyle which comes from helping others in times of emergency. Whether itís
a house fire, motor vehicle accident or storm related emergency, the fire company is called upon to assist those in need.
Yes, firefighting is hard work and demanding, with hours of training involved and a personal commitment to respond to emergency calls on
a momentís notice. However, there is a huge payoff which few jobs can match. It comes from the newly found pride and confidence in
yourself, new skills learned and being part of a select, hard working ďteamĒ of dedicated people serving their community and making a difference in the lives of your fellow residents. Being a volunteer firefighter is also a chance to form lasting friendships and have fun with people who share a common goal.
As a new Millstone Volunteer Firefighter, you will be provided with a comprehensive physical, free of charge, to confirm your physical fitness to perform firefighting duties. In addition, you will be enrolled in Firefighter I training, free of charge, so that once completed, you will be certified as an active firefighter in New Jersey. The fire company also encourages members to continue their education and attend advanced training in areas such as motor vehicle rescue techniques, pump operations and fire officer training at our local fire academy in Monmouth County as well as other training facilities in New Jersey.
Active membership in the Millstone Township Fire Company also has certain benefits too, including:
- Length of Service Awards Program which is similar to a 401K retirement savings plan;
